God of Mercy

Mercy-2

“Teach me thy ways, O Lord; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name. I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore. For great is thy MERCY toward me: and thou has delivered my soul from the lowest hell.” Psalm 86:11-13

Have you ever done something that you just knew you would receive a severe punishment for yet your mom or dad showed you great mercy? I vividly remember as a small child crawling under a horse and my daddy being very upset. Because he knew the horse could really hurt me he became very concerned. In his immediate response he snatched me up and I could tell he was really upset. I deserved a good spanking but I did not receive one. Daddy told me not to be around the horses but I disobeyed him. Although I received a pop on the bottom, I probably needed at least three or four. Daddy was merciful to me with his punishment. Maybe my crying  was enough for him to feel sorry for me. Nonetheless, because of my daddy’s love for me he showed me mercy.

I feel this same mercy for my precious grands when they are in trouble. In my heart I want to show them great mercy. There are times however they must also learn a lesson for their behavior. Mercy for them will always run deep in my heart as I strive to teach them loving lessons about life. Such love fills my heart for these precious grands of mine that I feel my heart will explode. Mercy always wins with this Mimi/Memaw!

There is a beautiful song I love to sing. The words go like this: “I was hopeless, I knew I was lost. Death and darkness were my only songs. I needed someone to come rescue me and mercy heard my plea. …….That’s what mercy did for me.” This song has brought such peace to my heart. Just to know that my “Daddy” has shown me such mercy makes this life journey a little easier to travel. Jesus is Mercy!

This world we live in is a fallen one. Sin and darkness seems to overrun the lives of people all around us. In receiving God’s mercy we have the power to extend it to others through the Holy Spirit within. It is my prayer for each of us that we are filled with compassion and mercy for this lost and dying world. May we let the Light of Jesus shine out as we show mercy to those around us. Living in Mercy will allow us to have Joy4theJourney.

Who Determines Your Worth?

874b907831f3b64ae82cd63aba17c035--inspiring-words-inspirationalSo many times I have found myself seeking approval from others. Trying to fix things that were not mine to fix or trying to help in situations that I “thought” needed my help. Many times I would succeed in helping and just as many times I would fail. If I succeeded than I felt good about myself. But then those times of failures reminded me that I was human and once again I found myself thinking I was not of value. This would happen within my family, my church family, or even in my place of employment. I was seeking my worth in the opinions of others and in my own accomplishments.

I am continually reminded that my worth is not in what I can fix for others or what I can do in life. My worth, my value is in Christ alone! Ephesians 1:4 says “According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundations of the world, that we would be holy and without blame before Him in love.” Yes, God almighty choose me and you before the foundation of the world was formed. I am a daughter of the the King! He loved us before we even had a chance to fail or to succeed. He still loves us even now. His love never changes.

Just as the rich young ruler in Mark 10 made his choice to follow his worldly riches, Jesus gives us the opportunity to choose to put our worth in Him. Jesus loved the rich young ruler just as he loves us. Although He loved him  Jesus did not try to manipulate him into following Him. He gave him the choice to put his value and worth in him or to continue to find it in his worldly possessions. Jesus does the same for you and I. We can find our worth in doing for others and in trying to fix everything, or we can choose to find our worth in living a life for Jesus and trusting Him with the outcome.

Today I choose to follow Jesus, I choose for my worth to be found in Him. I am His beloved daughter because He willed for me to be. I will no longer allow the world to determine my worth based on ungodly, false standards. I am His and He is mine! I asked you to join me in seeking your worth in Him. Search the scriptures. Ask God to open up His word to you and reveal His love for you. He will give you joy 4 the journey along the way.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11)

Joy 4 the Journey

As I sit here tonight and begin this journey of blogging, I am reminded of the beautiful life filled with joy God has blessed me with. From the in filling of His Holy Spirit to guide me, to the Word He has given me as a road map, and then the beautiful family and friends He has blessed me with to travel on this journey; yes, I am a blessed women. It is my hope this blog will bring joy to others and help to those who feel helpless. Joy does not always come easy. There are many days in my own life that I battle with, lets say I really battle with,,,,,,I will call it hopelessness.  Yet I know that my hope is in the Lord and I am dearly loved by him and my family. I do hope that many of you who are reading this will come along with me on this quest to seek Joy 4 this Journey called life. It is my hope we can find laughter together and gain a joy that is unspeakable and full of glory from our Father above.

“And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me; therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy;” Psalm 27:6

“Thou wilt shew me the path of life; in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” Psalm 21:1

Joy in Jesus,
